Review: The AVO Eighty Eight 2014 LE

By Stan Rezaee

Last year, Bass was added to his top-shelf collection the AVO Dominant 13th 2013 LE, a limited edition cigar that is part of a collection that is released each year on Avo Uvezian birthday. Given how popular the cigar was among the regular crowd and walk-in customers, Campbell Cigar Club is happy to announce that it has added The AVO Eighty Eight 2014 LE to its top shelf selection.

The AVO Eighty Eight 2014 LE is the newest addition to the Limited Edition series of cigars that is released once a year from Avo Uvezian. The cigar is limited to 8888 boxes and was released on March 22, 2014 in honor of Avo Uvezian’s 88th birthday.

The AVO Eighty Eight 2014 LE has a filler that mixes five types of Dominican tobacco (Piloto Viso, Piloto Ligero, San Vicente Livero, Corojo/Olor, Criollo) along with a Peruvian Viso. The filler is held together with a Olor /Criollo binder while wrapped with a Yamasá. Its almost similar to last years The AVO Dominant 13th 2013 LE but with a minor change.

Its appearance will easily get anyone’s attention with its dark brown and oily texture while decorated with two eye attracting band. The first band presents the AVO logo while decorated in brown, gold, black, and white. The second band is decorated with a piano style background while the word Eighty Eight is written in gold.

Any cigar from Zino Davidoff will always be of exceptional quality and The AVO Eighty Eight 2014 LE is no exception. This was our final verdict:
Bass: 910
Stan: 9/10
Customer #1: 8/10
Customer #2: 9/10
Customer #3: 8.5/10
Customer #4: 9/10

All of us had a good time smoking the The AVO Dominant 13th 2013 LE during the Mayweather vs. Guerrero fight. This time we are enjoying the The AVO Eighty Eight 2014 LE during the World Cup.

The Eighty Eight has a relaxing smooth draw that will allows you to really feel the medium to full body flavor. The cigar starts with a creamy chocolate flavor with a presence of nutmeg. As it progresses half way, the a little spice is added to the chocolate taste while a ceder flavor begins to develop but keeping the creamy draw. Near the end the cigar has a rich ceder flavor that has mixed with the chocolate taste.

Compared to The AVO Dominant 13th 2013 LE, most of the regular guys felt that it was an improvement to an already perfect cigar. A few tasted no difference but that is in a good way. Campbell Cigar will be selling the The AVO Eighty Eight 2014 LE for $29 (not including tax) per cigar and supply is very limited.
